Bill was born in Willow Springs Missouri to Bertha and William Cobbs. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Lomita, California where he resided with his older sister, Twila and younger brother, Wayne. Bill grew up enjoying soap box racing, playing with neighborhood friends, and exploring the South Bay while attending Lomita Elementary and Flemming Junior High. In his teenage years he was a gymnast at Narbonne High School and graduated in Winter of 1960. He spent many of his young adult years working on, and sometimes racing, cars- his favorite past time. Bill eventually went to work for Northrup Grumman Aircraft in their transportation division. He thoroughly enjoyed the rigor and scope of his work- transporting invaluable aircraft sections which included work on the F/A 18 and B2 projects. He took a lot of pride in his work and retired from the group in 1997 with many accolades for promptness, attention to detail, and hard work on the various projects that he assisted. When not working, he enjoyed going on trips to regional lakes with family and friends and collecting and working on cars. He loved boating, especially challenging those willing to let him drive while water skiing. Lake Havasu, Lake Mead, Lake Nacimiento, and Lake Tahoe were some of his favorites. After retirement, Bill moved from the South Bay to his vacation home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona before settling the last 20 years in Murrieta, California. He is survived by his son Andrew, daughter Amanda, his grandchild Isaac, and his second grandbaby, Evan William, due any day.
