Vernon Drew Davis was born on May 6, 1942 in Los Angeles to Howard and Grace Davis. He was the youngest of five children. He grew up in Bell Gardens until the middle of the '50s at which time the family moved to Torrance. Vernon was a 1960 graduate of Torrance High School where he excelled in sports. He worked at US Steel for 17 years until their closure; then at Martin Marietta for 10 years until their closure. He then reinvented himself and began work at California Billing Specialists, where he worked until his death. He fought a courageous battle the last three years against cancer and lost that battle on January 8, 2018 with his family at his side. Vernon is survived by wife of 46 years, Jackie; sons Jeff A. Davis, Steve Davis, and daughter, Jami L. Sibley (Curt). Grandchildren: Randy Davis, Lauren Davis, and Clara Davis. One great-grandchild, Lea Niuniava. One brother, Howard A. Davis (Joyce).
