Stephen Coe Clements, known to many as Steve, was born on June 10, 1942, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Florence and Robert Clements, the third of six children. The family moved to California when Steve was three, and he and his siblings grew up exploring Harbor Pines and South Torrance. Steve graduated from Narbonne High School and earned his AA degree from Harbor College.

In 1962, Steve met the love of his life, Sheila VanSickle of San Pedro, on a blind date; they married in 1963. Drafted into the US Army in 1966, Steve served valiantly in Vietnam with the 1st Air Cavalry Division. After his honorable discharge in 1968, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department, serving first at 77th Division and then Southeast Division, where he retired in 1996 as a Detective III.

After retiring, Steve devoted himself to caring for Sheila following her 1994 multiple sclerosis diagnosis. He kept active with weekly workouts at 24 Hour Fitness and golf, a game he grew to love, especially playing with his siblings. He took great pride in his home and yard, and enjoyed swimming in his backyard pool, watching the Dodgers and Michigan Wolverines football, and walking the dog and cat.

Steve passed away on June 4, 2024, due to complications from dementia, leaving behind Sheila, his wife of 61 years. Sheila passed away on June 11, 2026. Steve is survived by his daughters, Cindy Paulson (Tom) and Nicole Talley; five grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Hanna, Kylie, and Jimmy; and siblings Judy Belanger, Robert Clements (Anita), Jon Clements (Nancy), and Paul Clements (Susan). He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Michael (Donna); and brother-in-law Gerald Belanger.

A memorial service for Steve was postponed so that a celebration of life could honor both Steve and Sheila together, following her passing.
