Born on March 5, 1955, to Isabel and Joseph Chow, Sophia Ann Chow—affectionately known as Fi—was the youngest of four daughters and the cherished sister of Margery Werner, Janet Nakasone, and Lucy Nelson.
Raised in Gardena, California, just a short walk from Gardena High School, Fi and attended Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance. She graduated in 1973 before pursuing a degree at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Upon earning her degree, she began what would become a lifelong career with The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, where she remained a dedicated and valued team member until her passing in 2025.
Fi’s work at Aerospace took her across the United States and abroad to England, where she cultivated a love for travel and connection. She delighted her eight nieces and nephews with tales of her adventures, recalling colleagues, customs, and even the names of the lounge attendants she saw so often. Though she never had children of her own, Fi’s devotion to her family was unwavering. She was a thoughtful and constant presence—never missing a birthday message, milestone, or family celebration, whether near or far.
Fi’s joy was found in shared experiences. She treasured trips to Disneyland and Disney World with her sisters, nieces, and nephews—places that truly were her happy place. She also cherished her visits to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to spend time with her lifelong best friend, Barb.
Sophia passed away in October 2025. She is survived by her three sisters, two brothers-in-law, eight nieces and nephews, and ten great-nieces and great-nephews. Her humor, and presence will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.
