Serafin Lui Co, late of Brea, California, passed away on August 17, 2026, at City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Serafin was born on July 27, 1957, in Binondo, Philippines. During his high school years, from 1974–1975, he was an active member of the varsity basketball team. He went on to graduate from the University of Santo Tomas in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in General Science. Following graduation, Serafin embarked on a 25-year entrepreneurial journey in the Philippines, from 1988 to 2013, owning and operating a textile manufacturing business before later running a pharmacy.

Serafin had a great sense of humor, enjoyed joking around, and loved playing with his grandson. He enjoyed staying healthy and looked forward to moments that he can see family, especially his grandson. Serafin was a down to earth person and has always found joy and peace in the simple things. His greatest pride in life was always his family and siblings. The annual Christmas vacation to Baguio with the Co clan during the 1990s, which continued to the 2000s, were his most treasured memories.

Serafin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He was known by everyone as a selfless, godly, generous, respectful, knowledgeable, strong, resilient, compassionate, and a humble person. He did his best to love everyone around him to the best of his ability, to the point of putting everyone before him. To say that he was selfless is an understatement. As someone who was always a cheerful giver, one of the things he always taught his kids was that it is always better to give than to receive.

As a testament to Serafin’s generosity and kindness, he financially supports one of his former nannies, who he lovingly calls “Yaya”. He has known her for 39 years and has seen her as family. He also donated to the church and accepted any responsibility given to him. Serafin always helped people with a smile and was a cheerful giver and a happy helper.

Serafin had a heart for service and the passion to give back. He did his best to help the people around him and one of his proudest moments was when he was able to start serving in his home church. One of Serafin’s biggest dreams was to one day serve the Lord through singing. He was a devout Christian and although he was shy, he was always willing to share his faith to everyone around him.

Serafin is survived by his wife, Grace; his children, Gianne, Shaun, and Adrian; his son-in-law, Roger; and his grandchildren, Rylan and an unborn grandchild. A funeral service and burial for Serafin will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:30 p.m. and a burial at 3:15 p.m. at Green Hills LA, 27501 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. All attendees are kindly asked to wear dark clothing. A separate Celebration of Life will be held the following day, September 9, 2026 at Mission Bible Church, 275A McCormick Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. The family requests that condolences be expressed in the form of prayers.
