In Loving Memory of Sandra Evelyn Mills

Sandra Evelyn Mills, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, in Long Beach, California, at the age of 89.

Sandra was born on April 8, 1937, in Machiasport, Maine, where she developed a lifelong love for the ocean, ships, and lighthouses. As a young girl her family moved to San Pedro Ca where her same passion for water continued. She enjoyed roller skating and swimming, activities that reflected her energetic and adventurous spirit.

Sandra shared a remarkable 72-year marriage with the love of her life, Bill Mills. Together they built a family centered on love, loyalty, and unwavering support. Bill preceded her in death on January 13, 2026. Though they are now reunited, their legacy lives on through the family they cherished.

She was the proud mother of four sons: Carl Mills, who preceded her in death, Terry Mills, Dave Mills, and Billy Mills Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Hanson, along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.

For more than 40 years, Sandra dedicated her career to serving as a school bus driver for special needs children. She approached her work with patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the students and families she served. Her kindness and dependability touched countless lives throughout her career.

Sandra had a passion for sports and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers. She loved country music, especially the timeless songs of Randy Travis. Whether she was watching a game, listening to music, sharing a laugh, or gathering with loved ones, she found happiness in the people and things she loved most.

Those who knew Sandra will remember her as steadfast, dependable, and deeply caring. She was the person family members could always count on, the friend who was always there, and the quiet source of strength who helped others through life's challenges. Her love was constant, her generosity genuine, and her devotion to those she cared about never wavered.

While her family mourns her passing, they also celebrate a life well lived—a life filled with love, hard work, loyalty, and countless memories that will be treasured forever.

Sandra's legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the friends she loved, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
