Ruben Hurtado Zuniga

Ruben Hurtado Zuniga, 74 years old, of Eastvale California, passed away on the evening of October 1, 2025. Born to Maria Hurtado Zuniga and Ruben Melgoza Zuniga on October 16, 1950, in Purepero Michoacan, Mexico. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Dad was hard-working and dedicated. He spent more than 40 years working for the Brotherhood of Carpenters, first as a Journeyman Carpenter for many years. Then he went on to hold many roles at the Local Carpenters Union and the Regional Council including Business Agent, Financial Secretary, Executive Board Member, Special Representative and official translator of The Southwest Regional Carpenters Magazine. He was known for his passion for equality and union solidarity. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for individual union members and helped them reach their career goals.

Dad was a man of many qualities including his kindness, generosity, integrity and willingness to always forgive and ask for forgiveness. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Dad’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. Dad was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for over 40 years where he devoted many years to not only his own sobriety but sponsored countless others in their journeys. He enjoyed reading, playing guitar, singing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service and burial will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on Wednesday October 22, 2025 at 11:30am with reception to follow.

We find comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

Rubén Hurtado Zúniga, de 74 años, residente de Eastvale, California, falleció la noche del 1 de octubre de 2025. Hijo de María Hurtado Zúniga y Rubén Melgoza Zúniga, nació el 16 de octubre de 1950 en Purépero, Michoacán, México. Fue un devoto esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo.

Papá era un hombre trabajador y dedicado. Trabajó durante más de 40 años para la Hermandad de Carpinteros, primero como carpintero oficial durante muchos años. Posteriormente, ocupó diversos cargos en el Sindicato Local de Carpinteros y el Consejo Regional, incluyendo agente comercial, secretario financiero, miembro de la junta ejecutiva, representante especial y traductor oficial de la revista The Southwest Regional Carpenters. Era conocido por su pasión por la igualdad y la solidaridad sindical. A pesar de sus numerosas responsabilidades, siempre dedicaba tiempo a cada miembro del sindicato y les ayudaba a alcanzar sus metas profesionales.

Papá era un hombre de muchas cualidades, entre ellas su bondad, generosidad, integridad y su disposición a perdonar y pedir perdón constantemente. Dejó una huella imborrable en todos los que lo conocieron.

Las aficiones e intereses de papá lo ayudaron a definir su identidad. Fue miembro de Alcohólicos Anónimos (AA) durante más de 40 años, donde dedicó muchos años no solo a su propia sobriedad, sino también a apadrinar a innumerables personas en sus caminos. Disfrutaba de la lectura, tocar la guitarra, cantar y pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos.

Le sobreviven su esposa, sus hijos, sus nietos y sus bisnietos, así como muchos amigos y familiares que lo extrañarán profundamente.

El funeral y el entierro se llevarán a cabo en el Parque Memorial Green Hills el miércoles 22 de octubre de 2025 a las 11:30 a.m. Recepción después del servicio. 

Nos reconforta saber que el legado de papá perdura a través de las lecciones que nos enseñó, el amor que compartió y los recuerdos que atesoraremos por siempre.
