Ronald Mackey Pine age 91 of Seal Beach, California passed away on January 15,2026

Ron was born on March 30th, 1934 in Waukegan, Illinois. When he was an infant, the family moved to Harbor City California where he was raised with his parents William & Sylvia Pine as well as sister Sue and brother Bill. He attended school at Harbor City Elementary, Fleming Jr High and graduated from Narbonne High School in 1952.

He attended Harbor College for 2 years until he was drafted into the Army; he served time in Korea. He was part of the 42ndEngineer Utilities Detachment where he worked with the refrigeration trucks. He received the National Defense Service Medal as well as an Honorable Discharge. He served from February 16th, 1954 thru February 17th, 1957.

He began working at Shell Oil Company in October of 1957, when he met the love of his life the woman who would become his wife, Helen “Jo” Murphy. On March 22nd, 1958 he asked Helen Jo to marry him and on April 26th, 1958 they were married at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wilmington.

After leaving Shell Oil Company, he tried his hand in the restaurant business. He worked for Fiddlers Three which was a growing chain at the time. He worked his way up the ladder with that company and was finally able to work as the commissary supervisor in a Monday-Friday job.

Ron was very devoted to his wife Jo and took very good care of her for 20 years after a devastating stroke.

Ron loved sports! He played baseball growing up as well as participating on men’s teams during the early years of his marriage. He loved golf and once he retired, he was able to play a few times a week. He also loved cards, Poker, Texas Hold ‘em, black jack at which he did win tournaments.

Ron is survived by his four loving daughters: Sharon (Martin) Nemitz, Erinn (Casey) Erickson, Caron (Keith) Adler, and Lorinn (Benjamin) Rivera. He was also the proud Papa of 14 grandkids: Bethany (Martin) Luviano, Kevin (Shanna) Nemitz, Emily (Chace) Marlowe, Tanner Erickson, Shawna (Ryan) Walker, Brittany (Riley) Detrick, Tim Adler, Matt Adler, Michelle Adler, Belinda (Ivan) Hernandez, Raquel (Danny) Meza, Judy Rivera, Anthony Rivera, Nicolas Rivera and 5 great grandkids: Alessandro Luviano, Sebastian Luviano, Ryder Marlowe, Natalia Hernandez and Lucas Meza.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Helen “Jo” Murphy Pine, parents William and Sylvia Pine, sister Suzanne Peed and brother William “Bill” Pine.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 540 Olive Ave, Long Beach. CA on February 28th at 1:30 P.M.

Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes; Resurrection Slope.

Their will be a reception to follow at the home of Lorinn and Ben Rivera, 3231 Fashion Ave, Long Beach
