Rolando “Potie” Batatan Rojas, age 73, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Silang, Cavite, the same small town where he was born and raised. He was born on June 10, 1952, to Teofilo and Leticia Rojas. Potie was one of ten children (Ednalin, Constancia, Jaime, Erineo, Romulo, Manuel, Zenaida, Johnny, and Francisca) and grew up surrounded by family, resilience, and strong values that would guide him throughout his life.
On September 22, 1974, he married the love of his life, Doris Rojas. Together they had three children: Jacqueline, Bernice, and Justin. They built a life grounded in hard work, sacrifice, laughter, and unwavering love.
Potie loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, proud papa, and joyful wowo (grandfather) to Brandon, Connor, and Brody. He warmly welcomed his son-in-law, Scott Jacobs, into the family, and his home was always full — not just with relatives and friends, but also with his beloved “fur babies”: Gutz 1, Wander, Stevie, and Gutz 2.
Potie turned his entrepreneurial spirit into a family legacy by founding JBJ's Bakery in 2001 and named it after his three children. The bakery to this day continues to thrive and flourish, just as he intended.
Potie had a gift for making things grow. His backyard garden was his pride and joy — a small paradise where everything he planted seemed to bloom and thrive under his careful watch. Family and friends would often “shop” in his backyard, leaving with bags of fresh fruit and full hearts. If you ever wondered whether he loved you, he probably sent you home with produce.
Rolando “Potie” Rojas leaves behind a legacy of sacrifice, perseverance, and love. He showed his family what hard work looks like, what commitment means, and how to build something lasting — whether a business, a garden, or a life together.
Though he is deeply missed, his lessons, his laughter, and his love will continue to bloom in the lives of all who knew him — just like everything he planted.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
