Rodrigo O. Pundamiera, affectionately known as Rudy, passed away on January 30, 2026. Rudy was born on April 6, 1936 in Pasay City, Philippines to Valentin and Manuela Orca. Rudy married the love of his life Virginia Salvador on March 30, 1958 and welcomed their firstborn son Roderick on January 1959.
In October of 1959 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed aboard several USCG Cutters before being stationed at the USCG Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. After 5 years and 5 children, he was later stationed aboard the USCG Cutter Mackinaw bringing his family to live in Cheboygan, Michigan. He was later transferred to the USCG Base on Terminal Island in Long Beach, California where he settled in the city of Wilmington with his family. In the last years before retiring he was a USCG recruiter. After 20 years in the USCG he retired as Chief Storekeeper in October 1979.
Rudy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to many people who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents, his younger brother, Renato, his grandson Phillip Jr. and his great grandson Levi Phillip. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Virginia, his sister Remy, his children Roderick (Cherry), Rovina (Leonard), Edward, IlaBelle (Phillip) and Thomas. His grandchildren Brittany (Mike), Jennifer (Caine), Andrew (Naomi), Chloe, Kelsey, Leonard Jr.(Eleni), Ryan, Samantha, Matthew, Tessa, Brandon, Cayla, Ciara and his great grandchildren Ayden, Corinne and Laila.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Monday March 2, 2026 at 9am at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel. Followed by internment at Parkview Terrace in Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275
