Rodney Radell Robinson was the third born child from the union of Clemon and Almaleen Robinson, born on December 20, 1960. Raised in Carson, California, Rodney spent his early years surrounded by a close-knit family and community. He attended Bonita Street Elementary, Carnegie Junior High, and graduated from Carson High School in 1978. Rodney, along with his siblings, was baptized at Holy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in West Compton at a young age. His faith remained a steady part of his life.
A natural athlete with a competitive spirit and graceful rhythm, Rodney played varsity basketball in high school and continued his athletic journey at Long Beach City College and Hawaiian Gardens Adult Basketball League. He also found joy in roller skating, bowling, and dancing, especially with his three closest friends; Michael Cotton, Kevin Fuller and Dwayne “Blue” Johnson, they called themselves “The Aces.” Rodney was known as the Ace of Hearts, a fitting title.
After high school, Rodney built diesel engines at Cummins in Santa Fe Springs. He later worked for United Healthcare, offering healthcare insurance coverage. Then Closet Factory, customizing closets and home spaces with flair. Rodney was the ultimate salesperson. He held sales manager positions in multiple companies in the computer industry. Rodney had a lifelong passion for health and fitness. That passion led him to work at 24 Hour Fitness, where he served as both a manager and personal trainer. It is one of the many ways he connected with people.
Beyond his career, Rodney’s creativity and passion were evident in everything he did. He had a deep love for music and art. He loved to cook, often preparing meals for his family and friends. He enjoyed hosting gatherings, bringing people together with food, laughter, and warmth.
Rodney transitioned on May 29, 2025, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clemon and Almaleen Robinson and brother Clemon Junior.
He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, humor, and strength. Rodney is survived by his daughters Evanne Robinson and Whitney Robinson from a previous marriage, Tyler Robinson, and Mason House, and his cherished grandson Lennox Robinson. He is also survived by his siblings Rhonda, Ronald, Clement Lamont, and Olijawan Robinson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
