Bob graduated from Colorado Springs High School.
Following a statewide competitive exam Bob received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, arriving in June of 1955 while still 17 years old. He graduated from the Academy in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in General Engineering. His active-duty experience included tours of duty on the cruiser USS Rochester, the destroyer USS Colahan as Chief Engineer, and with the Military Assistance and Advisory Group (MAAG) in Taiwan.
After his Navy services, Bob attended Harvard Business School from which he received his MBA. He then began a career in Financial Management primarily as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer. He also became a Certified Public Accountant.
Throughout his adult life, Bob volunteered actively, coaching Little League, girls’ soccer and supporting the Boy Scouts. In later life Bob was volunteer treasurer of the Palos Verdes Art Center, treasurer of the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Finance Council at Saint John Fisher. For years, he helped feed the needy through Christian Outreach in Action in Long Beach. Although not a musician himself, Bob was fond of music. He enjoyed summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and attended multiple local concerts as well.
