In Loving Memory of Rita Harvey March 31, 1946 – October 27, 2026,

Rita Harvey passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 27, 2026.

Born in Long Beach, California, Rita was raised in Wilmington by her parents, Kay and Santos Orozco. After graduating from Banning High School, she went on to receive her beauticians license from Marinello’s.

Rita was a gifted and accomplished hairdresser whose exceptional talent earned her numerous awards, including first place in an international hairdressing competition at the Paris World Festival in 1971, at the age of 25. She spent many years working at Virginia’s Powder Box in Wilmington, where she formed lasting friendships with coworkers and clients alike.

Rita cherished her family and friends above all else. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, devoted sports team mom, wonderful friend, and exceptional cook. She especially enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings, where her famous homemade tamales, taquitos, and green Chile became beloved family traditions.

Rita married Alan Harvey on March 11, 1973, and together they built a family that remained the greatest joy of her life. She was a devoted mother to Christopher and Amanda and a proud grandmother to her grandson, Teddy.

She is survived by her husband, Alan; her brother, David Orozco; her children, Christopher Harvey (Amanda) and Amanda Webb (Rob); and her cherished grandson, Theodore Webb. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Margaret “Fonda.”

Rita will be fondly remembered for her infectious smile, generous heart, unmistakable sense of humor, and unwavering love for her cherished circle. The memories she created, the friendships she treasured, and the lives she touched will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
