Richard Chacon Perez, 79, of San Pedro, CA, passed away on October 12th , 2025 peacefully at home.
Richard was born on May 10, 1946 in San Pedro, CA to Petra and Luis Perez. He graduated from Banning High School and was a bus driver for over 40 years. Most notably, he dedicated 13 years at Long Beach Transit, where he retired in 2015 to focus on supporting his daughter Reina through her High School years. Post-retirement he enjoyed 5 years at Knott’s Berry Farm creating a clean, enjoyable space for thousands of families to make lasting memories.
Richard was known best for his positive and talkative personality. He was a man of tradition who was steady, loyal and true to his word. He believed in commitment, hard work, and the strength of family. Those who knew him knew a man who showed up, who could be counted on, and always had the right words to say.
Richard had a deep love for the simple joys in life. He enjoyed history, oldies music, admiring classic cars, and documentaries. He had a gift of connecting with people; whether it was behind the wheel or out in the community he loved, Richard had a way of making everyone feel seen and heard. He was easy to talk to, genuine, and carried a warmth that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Richard is survived by his sister Alice Martinez, children Reina (Carlos) Navarro-Perez, Jesse Robles, Elaine (Javier) Robles-De Alba, Joseph (Susie) Robles, Marcus (Maria) Perez, and Andy Perez; and grandchildren Genevieve, Ophelia, Marzia, Evelyn, Theodore, Augie, Ben, Noah, Jacob, Sophia, Solaire, and Andrew. He was proud of his roots, proud of his work, and proud of the family he built. Above all his children and grandchildren were his greatest treasures. They will carry his laughter, his lessons, and his love forward in everything they do.
Richard will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the love he gave. He was a man of integrity, of heart, and of purpose. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial will be held on October 28th, 2025 at 11:30am, at Green Hills Chapel 27501 S Western Ave Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.

Forever in our hearts, and always remembered with love.
