Richard Harry Olson passed away on September 21, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born on November 16, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a long-time resident of Cypress, California.
He is survived by his wife Judith, son Dean Olson and a daughter Deborah Drantch, as well as grandchildren Garrett, Melynda, Hannah and Ethan. Richard will always be remembered for being a loving, and devoted husband and father. He was an active member in his church, serving as council president. He was an all-around handyman. In his early life he was involved in Boy Scouts from Cubs to Eagle Scout. He then went on to Explorers and was a scout master for many years.
Richard and his wife of 58 years enjoyed many adventures, cruising to many countries and visiting the U.S.
Richard was a retired Captain of the Los Angeles City Fire Department serving for nearly 38 years. He was known as “Oly” by his firefighter family.
