Regina Kurzawa, beloved wife, mom, babcia, and prababcia was called home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2026, at the age of 92.

Regina, the youngest of eight children born to Andrzej and Stanislawa Gwizdak, was born October 1, 1933, in Poland.

She was only six years old when World War II tore the family apart. She lost both parents and after 2 years in Siberia, spent 7 years in refugee camps in Africa. Eventually, at the age of 15, she was reunited with siblings in England. Here she met the love of her life, Wincenty (Vince) Kurzawa, at a Polish club.  They married and settled in England where they raised three children, Zofia, Edward and Kristina.

In 1968, the family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in San Pedro where they began life anew.  Regina worked as a waitress for 26 years at the IHOP before retiring at 62.

She loved to spend time with family and friends, frequently preparing traditional Polish food.  She also loved to read and tend her garden.

In spite of all she endured in her early life, her faith was strong.  She loved Jesus and when illness took its toll, she was ready to go to her eternal home.

Regina is survived by her sister, Pola; her daughters, Zofia and Kristina; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Beau), Jennifer (Anthony), Vince (Erika), Lauren and Eryk (Seraphina); and her great grandchildren, Caleb, Kailey, Zoe, Wincenty and Zofia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wincenty, and her son, Edward.
