Peter Furst 1968-2025

Peter was born to Jozef and Gabriela Furst on October 25,1968, in Vienna, Austria. He was three months old when he and his family immigrated to the United States, settling in a small apartment in Los Angeles, California.

Peter was a man of stellar character. Using language to describe his incomparable kindness and integrity is like using a classroom ruler to measure the speed of light. His compassion and reverence for others were profoundly unique.

Peter’s life changed suddenly when, at the tender age of eight, he suffered a massive head injury from a bicycle accident. But he was resilient, beating the odds and growing into a smart, capable man. Yet the pain and fear of twelve operations and the bullying he endured scarred him both physically and emotionally. Despite these hardships, Peter carried himself with courage, grace and humor, even while facing battles few could see.

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Peter passed away in his home in Murrieta, California.

Peter is survived by his mother, Gabriela; his father, Jozef; his sister, Andrea; and his brother-in-law, Patrick. In addition, Peter has two adoring nieces, Alexandra and Madelyn. We will always remember the man who brought us so much joy with his jocularity and his love.

The family is eternally grateful to Peter’s girlfriend, Julie Broxtermann. Julie faithfully stood by Peter’s side and showed remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. She was the love of his life; his soul mate; and his best friend. Julie will always be a beloved member of the family.
