Patricia Ann Grey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away September 22, 2025 at the age of 87. We are deeply saddened and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Patricia was born in Lakewood, Ohio on March 23, 1938 to Albert and Ann Kotsybar. She was the oldest of four children. Pat grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated high school and nursing school. Pat met the love of her life, Edward Grey, at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Pat and Ed were married on June 6, 1959. They flew out to California for their honeymoon and never went back. They bought a house in Torrance and started their family together. In 1964 they bought their current home in Rancho Palos Verdes. Pat and Ed had six children, all born within eight years and one day. Pat and Ed were very active people, always finding groups to join through the church, the neighborhood and the community. Pat and Ed were married for 36 years until Ed’s untimely death in 1995.
Pat worked as a nurse for 26 years at Kaiser Hospital in Harbor City, as a special caring person, until she retired in 1996. While Pat was working at the hospital and for all her clubs, she was always the unofficial decorator for all holidays and special occasions and also the unofficial photographer. She always had her camera and extra film because she loved taking pictures of friends and family for every event or special occasion. She also developed extra copies for everyone including for her photo album collection. Pat loved to dress up for any occasion, wearing holiday sweaters and outfits, including bold holiday jewelry, brooches and earrings. Pat always kept herself very busy with her clubs and her family. She was always on the go. She wanted to see and do everything she could, and she always wanted to share these outings with others, especially her grandchildren. Pat’s other hobbies included shopping for party and holiday decorations, going to the movies, plays and museums, reading and clipping magazine and newspaper articles that made her think of others. Pat was always creating personalized gift bags for her family and others that were always filled with magazine and newspaper clippings, Church bulletins, treats, holiday decorations, cards and sometimes one of her favorite Scrub Daddy sponges. Pat also loved talking on the phone both for her family and friends. She was always the one who kept everybody in the family up-to-date with what everyone else was up to. Pat was always willing to help a friend including driving people to their doctors appointments or taking them shopping.
Patricia was a woman of deep faith, a devout Catholic whose love for God guided every part of her life, and her prayers covered us all. She had a special affinity for angels and she had an impressive collection throughout her house. Patricia is survived by her six children: Larry (Kathy) Grey, Lorraine (Rod) Sharpe, Don (Jackie) Grey, Dan (Christine) Grey, Ken (Robin) Grey, and Linda Grey. She also has twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother James Kotsybar.
