Pacita Platon Vasquez, age 77, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Los Alamitos, California.
Pacita was born on May 1, 1942 at home in Santo Tomas, Batangas, Philippines to Nicolas Castillo Platon and Maria Castillo Macaisa.
Pacita was sent to live with her paternal grandmother, Placida Castillo Platon and Aunt Loretta Platon to begin her primary education at Our Lady of Fatima Academy in Tanauan, Batangas. Pacita earned her Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Banking and Finance at the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila. After college, Pacita worked in banking until she met her husband, Conrado Queliza Vasquez. Conrado and Pacita were married 49 years until his death in 2018.
Conrado and Pacita raised three daughters: Maria Teresa Cuellar from Camarillo, Maria Victoria Vasquez Okino from Fremont, and Jennifer Vasquez from Wilmington. While pregnant with Jennifer, Pacita immigrated to Norfolk, Virginia to join Conrado who was stationed there in the US Navy. After a brief return to the Philippines, in 1982, Pacita ultimately made her residence in Southern California, until her death.
Pacita was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Teodoro, Victorino, Manuel, Gregorio, and Godofredo; and sister, Leonor. All were from the Philippines except Godofredo who was from London, England.
Survivors include daughters; sons-in-law Derek Cuellar and Paul Okino; granddaughters Sophia and Andrea Cuellar; grandsons Matthew and Zachary Okino; and siblings Policarpo Platon and Marcela Catala from the Philippines and Leodegaria Maranan from New York; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
