Pablo “Paul” Compos Martinez
Pablo “Paul” Compos Martinez, 96, passed peacefully at his home in San Pedro, California, on February 24, 2025. Born, October 8, 1928, Paul spent his early years in Wilmington, California, where he attended Phineas Banning High School (Class of 1948). During his years in Wilmington, Paul became a two-time All-Marine League football player, and later worked as a Teamster. In 1950, Paul married Cora (Rivera), and soon after, they bought their first home in Carson, California where they raised their two daughters. In 1953, Paul was registered as a Local 63 Marine Clerk for the ILWU for 41 years and then transferred to Local 94 and became an ILWU Foreman for another 24 years, before retiring in 2017, a career that lasted for 65 years. Paul was a proud life-time member of the San Pedro Elks Lodge 966 and member of the DB Club. In his spare time, he had a competitive passion for racquetball, golf and watching his grandchildren play sports. Paul enjoyed everything about life, especially traveling the world, new experiences, and the love of his family and friends. Paul was preceded in life by his brother Trini, sister Jenny and grandson Mario. He is survived by his wife Cora of nearly 75 years, daughters Eloise and Emily (Joe) Danelo, brother Manuel, sister-in-law, Rose, and grandchildren Joey (Jenna), Dillon (Katie), Shilo, Tony (Gina), their spouses, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 10:00 am, at Holy Trinity Church in San Pedro with committal service at Green Hills Cemetery to follow and celebration of life at Madeo Restaurant in San Pedro at 1:00 pm.
