Olga Moreno entered eternal rest on May 3, 2026, the Day of the Holy Cross. A devoted Catholic, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived her life guided by compassion and unwavering faith.

Olga Vicencio Rodriguez was born on September 4, 1944, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Elvira Rodriguez and Isauro Vicencio. At the age of 17, Olga married Jesus Moreno, beginning a marriage that would span 65 years. While living in Mexico, Olga and Jesus welcomed six children: Mike, Nancy, Joe, Elvira, Maria, and Angie. Later, they immigrated to the United States, where they welcomed their seventh child, Jesse.

Olga had an amazing sense of humor and could make everyone laugh with her funny stories. She was also a woman of remarkable courage and determination. Once she set her mind to something, she pursued it wholeheartedly. At one point, she decided she wanted to learn music, so she bought an accordion and took lessons. Though she did not continue playing long term, she often joked that the musical talents of her grandchildren came from her.

She was prudent, hardworking, and always sought ways to improve her family’s life. Olga saved money for the down payment on the family’s first home. In her thirties, she learned to drive and, through her own hard work and savings, proudly purchased several new cars for herself over the years.

Later in life, Olga made the decision to become a United States citizen. She studied diligently, passed her exam, and became immensely proud of her citizenship. She faithfully voted in every election she could because she deeply cared about her community, the country, and the world around her.

Olga also loved to travel. She and Jesus spent extended periods of time in Mexico and even purchased a second home there with dreams of retiring someday. Although those plans never fully came to fruition, they created many treasured memories with their family in their home in Mexico. Olga especially loved family trips to Hawaii with her children and grandchildren, and Palm Springs became one of her favorite places to visit.

Above all else, Olga’s greatest loves were her faith and her family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and dedicated her life to serving him. Olga was a devoted parishioner of St. Philomena Church for many years, where she and Jesus served as prayer group coordinators. She also faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister, a ministry she cherished deeply. She found profound joy in attending Mass and receiving Jesus in the Eucharist.

As her asthma worsened and affected her health, Olga became an even stronger prayer warrior. She spent countless hours before the Blessed Sacrament praying for her children, grandchildren, and all those she loved. She would often say, “Rezamos rosario tras rosario por ustedes” - “We prayed rosary after rosary for you”. Whenever anyone in the family needed prayers, Olga was the first person they called.

Everything Olga did was for her children and grandchildren. She shared a unique and special bond with each of her grandchildren, leaving them with cherished memories, affectionate nicknames, and loving words they will carry forever.

Olga leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, strength, and devotion. She taught her family to love the Lord and to share his love with others through kindness, prayer, and service. Her example will continue to guide and inspire all who knew and loved her.

Olga was preceded in death by her beloved son, Mike, whom she carried in her heart every day. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Jesus Moreno; her children, Nancy (Javier), Joe (Yolis), Elvira (Jesus), Maria (Scott), Angie (Carlos), and Jesse (Jenny); her 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and all those blessed by her love and prayers. While her family grieves her loss, they find peace and comfort in knowing that Olga is now resting in the loving arms of the Lord she faithfully served.
