Octino Metra
Cabrito
November 19, 1962 – March 16, 2026
It is with profound respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Octino Metra Cabrito, affectionately known as Boyet, who departed this life on March 16, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 19, 1962, in Santa Cruz, Zambales, Philippines, Octino lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Octino was a man of many talents and roles. Holding an associate degree as a radio operator, he proudly served as a radio operator at Hacienda Luisita for 12 years. His leadership was exemplified through his service as Branch President of the Paniqui 3 branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines for seven years. Additionally, he spent 14 years as a Merchant Marine with Mason/APL, demonstrating dedication and resilience at sea. A jack of all trades, Octino was skilled in repairing and maintaining household items and automobiles, always willing and able to lend his expertise. Those who knew him best remembered his funny, jokester spirit, humility, responsibility, and admirable role as a provider for his family.
Octino’s proudest accomplishment was his ability to work hard and provide for his loved ones despite not completing a Bachelor's Degree, a testament to his character and resolve. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed games, shoe collecting, and had a fond interest in guns. Family mealtimes were enlivened by his humor, as he delighted in making everyone laugh and sharing joy.
Octino is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Cabrito; his eldest daughter, Coleen Cabrito-Calinao, and son-in-law, Nathaniel Calinao; their daughters, Majaisha Nicholle Calinao and Liahona Xhadeanne Calinao; his second daughter, Anne Cabrito Rivera, and son-in-law, Dariel Rivera; their children, Serena Luna Rivera, Adriel Lucas Rivera, and Isabelle Lucia Rivera; his youngest son, Primo Victor Cabrito, and daughter-in-law, Nathalie Julissa Sierra Cabrito. He also leaves behind his brothers Edison, Florante, Jack, Gil, and Victorio Jr., and sister Laura Cabrito-Watts. Octino was preceded in death by his parents, Victorio Cabrito Sr. and Aurea Cabrito.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by Octino’s life are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on April 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 22721 Main Street, Carson, California. The funeral service will follow on April 11, 2026, beginning at 8:00 AM at the same location. Immediately thereafter, a graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, at 11:00 AM.
Octino Metra Cabrito’s legacy endures through the love he shared, the laughter he instilled, and the steadfast example he set by living a humble, responsible life devoted to his family and faith. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. May he rest peacefully.
