Nicolina Orlando passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on December 19, 1929, in Trappeto, Sicily, Italy, Nicolina was the beloved daughter of Girolamo and Vincenza Manzella. As the second of six children, she played an important role in helping care for her younger siblings, a reflection of her lifelong devotion to family. On September 13, 1951, she married the love of her life, Carlo Orlando. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Giuseppe and Girolamo. Nicolina and Carlo shared 59 years of loving marriage until his passing. Nicolina lived independently in her hometown of Trappeto until the age of 86, when she moved to the United States to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—her greatest joys. On March 30, 2026, she was called to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Girolamo and Vincenza; her beloved husband, Carlo; her brother, Carlo; and her sister, Rosa. Nicolina is lovingly remembered by her sister Santina Manzella, sister-in-law Maria Manzella, and brothers Giovanni Manzella and Paolo Manzella (Nicolina); sons, Giuseppe Orlando (Rosalia) and Girolamo Orlando (Josephine); her grandchildren, Carlo Orlando (Melissa), Nicole Aluise (Erik), Nicole Vittorio (Jeffrey), and Rosemarie Orlando; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Isabella and Sienna Orlando, Anabel Aluise, and Carlo and Paolo Vittorio. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will continue to honor her memory.
A viewing will be held on April 22, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Green Hills Chapel, with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Nicolina will then return to Trappeto, Sicily, Italy, where she will be laid to rest and reunited with her beloved husband.
