Myron Masao (“Masa”) Maetani, age 102, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026. He was born on June 15, 1924, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Myron dedicated many years of his career to mastering the craft of upholstery before embarking on a successful career in real estate. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched everyone he met. He had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went and was deeply loved by family and acquaintances alike.
He found great joy in lake fishing, watching sports and Japanese comedy shows, traveling, and lending a helping hand on family do-it-yourself projects. His generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always.
Myron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gladys Maetani; his daughters, Shelley Maetani and Erin Miyoshi; his daughter-in-law, Judy Maetani; his parents, Ikuro and Tou Maetani; and his brothers, Toshiaki and Herbert Maetani.
He is lovingly survived by his brother, Mason “Kazu” (Marian) Maetani of Hawaii; his sons, Kyle (Sindy) Maetani, Wade Maetani, and Kerry (Julie) Maetani; his grandchildren, Michelle Miyoshi, Jason Maetani, Reid Maetani, Janelle Maetani, Marissa Maetani, and Michael Miyoshi; and his great-granddaughter, Kira Torres. He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members throughout California, Hawaii, Utah, and Delaware.
A private graveside service will be held.
