In Loving Memory of
MOUSSA BAHAR
March 9, 1928 - December 8, 2025
Moussa Bahar (known as Mohandess Bahar) was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother and a friend and mentor to many. He was born in Mashhad, Iran, and passed away peacefully in the City of Torrance, the United States at the age of 97. Hailing from a prominent family of poets and scholars, Mohandess Bahar made significant contributions in his own right and left an indelible mark on his beloved country of birth by living an extraordinary life with purpose and determination.
After obtaining his electrical engineering degree from the University of Tehran, Mohandess Bahar furthered his technical education in England and Germany. He returned to Iran with a master’s in engineering, and, with an unrelenting dedication to innovation and progress and hard work, founded Zagross — a manufacturer of industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. In the following decades, overcoming significant obstacles, he was able to expand Zagross to three manufacturing sites with thousands of employees. Mohandess Bahar is credited with pioneering the refrigeration and air conditioning industry in Iran which had life-changing impact on the standard of living in the country. He cared deeply for the well-being and advancement of his employees. While life events forced Mohandess Bahar to leave Iran in 1979, Zagross continues its operations today, nearly six decades after its founding.
Throughout his life, Mohandess Bahar had unwavering love and great pride for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Nahid Molavi; his son Kamran, his wife Guilda Sarraf and their children Kayla and Kaden; his son Mehran; his son Arsalan, his wife Nazanin Nasseh and their children Naseem and Nilufahr; his daughter Azadeh, her husband Sina Mardani and their children Sohrab, Ariana and Arman; his son Fariborz; and his daughter Yassaman, her husband Massimo Formica and their children Raffaele and Lyla.
Mohandess Bahar was preceded in death by his parents Fatemeh Javaheri and Javad Kamrani.
Mohandess Bahar’s memory will live on in the hearts of the many who were touched by his love, generosity and spirit and inspired by his exemplary life. May he rest in peace.
