Michael George Savidan, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and distinguished public servant, passed away on March 13, 2026. Known for his unwavering integrity and genuine humility, Michael leaves behind a legacy of selfless service to the community he loved and a family who will miss him dearly.
Michael was in the USMC Reserves and also served as a law enforcement officer for 34 years in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, retiring with the rank of Commander. His commitment to civic duty continued through his work with the City of Lomita, where he served on the Traffic and Planning Commissions, the City Council, as well as serving two terms as Mayor.
Beyond his professional life, Michael was a cornerstone of local youth sports, spending many years as a volunteer coach and Board Member for the Lomita Little League. An avid sports fan, he could often be found enjoying a round of golf or cheering for the LA Dodgers and USC Trojans with his family by his side.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years (Mary Savidan), his son (Dr. Michael A. Savidan), daughter-in-law, (Gretchen Savidan); and his cherished grandchildren (Cole and Chloe Savidan). He will be remembered by his family and the citizens of Lomita as a man who lived with purpose and led by example.
