Michael De La Hunt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and public servant, passed away at his home surrounded by family on August 19, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born on June 27, 1959, in Long Beach, California, to John and Lucille De La Hunt, Michael was a proud, lifelong resident of San Pedro, California. He dedicated much of his life to serving others—as a special education teacher for 5 years, probation officer for 2 years, LAX Airport police officer for 10 years, LAUSD police officer for 3 years, and Sergeant for Security Services with the Los Angeles Police Department, where he served honorably for 18 years.
Michael was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Vikings and could often be found cheering them on loudly from his favorite spot on the couch. He enjoyed tending to his garden and writing poetry. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, whether it was sharing stories, laughing around the dinner table during family game night, or creating special memories with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Carmen; his daughters Vicky and husband Dain, Deanna and husband Mark, and Katie; and his cherished grandchildren Lucy, Logan, and Oliver. His presence, warmth, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Michael’s life was a testament to service, strength, and love, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
