Marta Nelida Jahn

Marta Jahn, age 87, passed away at home on March 21, 2026, in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Marta was born on January 30, 1939, in Mendoza, Argentina. She came to Los Angeles in 1954 with her parents and brother at the age of 15. In May 1962, she met the love of her life, Wolfgang who had just completed basic training in the Army and was in Los Angeles for a short time. He is from Berlin, Germany and had come to the US at 23 years old. He had to make the choice after six months to either join the army or go back to Germany. He chose sunny California. Their chance meeting at a German Supper Club in Hollywood marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion. Their first date was the day after they met. After just a few dates, Wolfgang was shipped to an army base in Germany. That year dozens of letters and tapes were mailed back and forth between the two. By the end of the year he sent an engagement ring through the mail and on August 3, 1963 they were married in Seesen, Germany surrounded by his family. After his time in the army was done, they moved back to Los Angeles close to her family. In 1970, they started a family of their own with the arrival of Mark and then Adriana in 1973.

Marta was a devoted wife of 62 years, mother, grandmother and aunt whose life was defined by her deep love for her family. She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and all who knew her.
