Marilyn Louise Waller
March 25, 1941 - July 8, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Marilyn Waller, at the age of 84.
Marilyn was born on March 25, 1941, in Denver, CO, and resided in Wide Acres, Golden, CO. The family later moved to Red Lodge, MT, where she attended St. Agnes Catholic grade school and Red Lodge High School along with her two brothers, George and Randy, and her sister, Patty. After graduating from high school and working the summer at Yellowstone National Park, she moved to Hollywood to attend airline school. She was hired by Western Airlines in 1960, working in various capacities until she settled into Reservations, where she worked at LAX for over 35 years, continuing her role after Western Airlines was purchased by Delta Airlines.
She met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Waller, an electrical engineer and musician, while living in the same apartment building in LA. They married in 1961, bought their first home in Westchester, and traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, and Asia. Marilyn became the first part-time employee at Western after giving birth to daughter, Susan, followed by son, Steven. They moved to Rancho Palos Verdes and continued traveling with kids. The family enjoyed many international trips to foreign countries and U.S. states, but especially cherished visiting relatives, going skiing, or going to Hawaii, including traveling with friends and relatives to many places.
Marilyn loved being a grandma and helping to care for her five grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing in the St. John Fisher Choir, golfing in numerous Delta women’s golf tournaments in Florida and Arizona, attending lunches with the Western and Delta Airlines retirees group, volunteering at the James Armstrong Theater, and participating in various charity organizations over the years. Those who knew Marilyn knew her to be kind, friendly, and pleasant to know. She loved and saw the good in everyone. We will all miss her dearly.
Marilyn is predeceased by her brothers George (Kay) Herrmann and Randy Herrmann, and post-deceased by her sister Patricia Hink by three days. She is survived by her husband, Richard Waller, her daughter, Susan (Mike) Poland, her son, Steven Waller, her grandchildren Shaun, Matthew, and Sara Poland, and Stephanie and Sophia Waller, great grandchild, Celeste Poland, nieces and nephews Theresa Alberts, Gabe, Michelle, Raphelle, and Nathan Hink, Alex and Kim Herrmann and half-brother Charles Herrmann, and many cousins and relatives.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 4:00-8:00 pm in the visitation suite at Green Hills Mortuary.
