Listen to Obituary

Mariano Alaska Jimenez Jr. passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026 at the age of 69, surrounded by his family. Mariano was born on March 30, 1957 in Manila, Philippines to Mariano Jimenez Sr. and Filipina Alaska Jimenez. He was the third of six children– Wilfredo, Rolando, Mariano Jr., Manuel, Renato, and Elvira. In his childhood, he took on the role of being a second parent to his younger siblings. He would ensure their well-being and took care of them dutifully but would still find ways to be a youthful troublemaker. In his early adulthood, Mariano began majoring in Business Administration at the Philippine College of Commerce, though his drive and passion for independence brought him overseas in Saudi Arabia where he worked as a secretary for 4 years. His travels then led him to the United States where he worked in various industries, ultimately landing in the logistics department with Toyota Motor Corporation.

Mariano was known by several names– Monching, Mon, or even Ray. Regardless of his name, everyone who knew him would say that he was a kind, generous, light-hearted soul. He was always quick to laugh or share a smile, and always willing to forgive and share compassion with others. In typical middle-child fashion, Mariano would often play the role of mediator and would lend an ear to anyone who needed to vent or share their troubles. He was also quick-witted and had a wonderful sense of humor, and his laugh always rang loudly in whatever room he occupied. Mariano spent a great amount of time visiting with his mother, siblings, and extended family members, near and far. Even though he had no children of his own, he was available to share paternal advice with his nieces and nephews, and was a reliable presence at their major life events, such as graduations, weddings, and celebrating the births of their own children.

He shared a significant part of his life with Mildred (Millie) Suzuki, with whom he traveled the world with or go on simple excursions to the Inland Empire (aka Pechanga!), where they shared a vacation home that hosted many family get-togethers. Mariano’s other companion almost always included a small dog, first Suki, an intelligent Yorkshire Terrier, followed by two Maltese, Oliver and Koji (Oyie). Mariano also loved to cook Filipino dishes but grew to learn how to cook American dishes and even traditional Japanese dishes due to his time spent with Millie.

Mariano loved and cared for his family deeply. His passing leaves a tremendous hole in his surviving family’s hearts, but they find comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is resting peacefully in Heaven, along with his father and others who have passed before him.

The family asks for your prayers and support, and to please join the viewing at Green Hills Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 4:30pm-8:30pm. Refreshments and food will be provided during the viewing. There will be a Catholic service, also held at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, the following day on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 9:00am, though please note that there will be no reception to follow.
