Margaret Savio Kensinger (Artiano), aged 95, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Born on November 8, 1928, in Torino Italy, she was a beloved figure known for her deep love for family and friends, her intellect and her musical talents which included her renowned piano playing, which she kept up until the last month of her life.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Alfonso Artiano and Melvin Kensinger, Jr. and her daughter Darlene Kensinger. She is survived by her four sons, James Artiano (Linda), Melvin Kensinger III (Sylvia), Timothy Kensinger (Sue), David Kensinger (Linda); grandchildren, Adam (Whitney) Artiano, Marissa (Jason) Pugh, Danielle (Craig) Ratcliffe, Steven Kensinger (Zach Kempen), Katherine Kensinger (Kendon Levett), Timothy, Mary, Joseph, Lauren and Madeline Kensinger; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Ella & Lila Artiano, Kennedy, Avery & Morgan Pugh, Khloe Kensinger and Gabriella Ratcliffe.
Margaret was educated in Torino, Italy and began her career as an elementary teacher in Torino. Once she moved to Buffalo, New York, she obtained her undergraduate degree from Buffalo State Teachers College, and her master’s degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. She taught both French and Italian at Sweet Home High School in Amherst, New York for 25 years.
After retirement, Margaret enjoyed traveling and visiting her family around the country and friends around the world. She was very religious, with a rosary always nearby, and faithfully kept a list of friends and family that she prayed for each day.
Visitation will be held on September 6, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park, with a Rosary to be said at 7:00 PM. Mass will take place the following day, September 7, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the same location, with internment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park. A reception will be held at Rolling Hills Country Club.
