Marcella Irene
Bennett
April 12, 1932 – March 24, 2026
Marcella Irene Bennett, born April 12, 1932, in Alton, Illinois, to Charles Elery Sheff and Laura Ellen Snider, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Kaiser Hospital in Irvine, California.
Marcie’s family moved from Alton, Illinois to Los Angeles, CA in 1940. Marcie lived in Southern California for the remainder of her life.
On New Year’s Eve in 1951, Marcella met her future husband, William Edward Bennett (“Bill”), and the two were married on Valentine’s Day in 1952. Marcie and Bill were married for 45 years until Bill’s death in 1997. The couple built a life centered on love, family, and hard work. Their son, Bill Jr., was born on April 2, 1953, followed by their daughter, Diane Marcella, on February 7, 1955.
Marcella built a successful 20-plus-year career in Southern California’s fashion industry, ultimately owning two women’s clothing boutiques. She was recognized in the local Rancho Palos Verdes area as the successful owner of “Mademoiselle” in the Peninsula Center Mall. She was also known as a gifted hostess and cook, an active participant in bridge clubs, and a dedicated supporter of charitable causes.
A passionate Los Angeles Dodgers fan, Marcie cherished those times when her grandkids would drop in on game day with a pizza in hand to spend a couple of hours cheering on the LA Dodgers with their Mum.
Above all, Marcella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, devoted to her family’s well-being and success. She was a woman of deep and abiding faith, rooted in a family tradition of devotion and service. Throughout her life, she never wavered in her commitment to God and the values that guided her with love, strength, and grace.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
