Dr. Marcel Popa was born on May 21, 1932 in Brasov, Romania. He studied medicine at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, earning a degree of Doctor of Medicine. He practiced OB/Gyn at General Hospital of Brasov, where he met his wife, Etta, who was a pharmacist. Together they immigrated to the U.S. in 1982 to escape the oppressive then-Communist regime in Romania. With great sacrifice and after overcoming many obstacles, the family settled down in California. He had a great passion for life, travel, and adventure, and he loved to share this with everyone. He passed away on July 30, 2015 doing what he loved - traveling abroad with family, in northern Europe. He is survived by his wife, two sons and niece who continue his professional legacy and are physicians as well, in addition to many cousins and relatives.
