Lourdes Fausto Avelino, age 71, was called to heaven to join our Almighty God on Monday, July 28, 2025, at UCLA Santa Monica, CA. She was born to David and Caroline Fausto on February 2, 1954 in Naga City, Bicol, Philippines. She was born at 6am in the home of her paternal grandmother, “Mama Bicol” on Bardin St. Just as she was born, the church bells, next to the house were ringing to signify the beginning of the novena of our Lady of Lourdes. 

She was the second of their five children, Marilyn, Emiliano, Eleanor and their youngest brother David Jr. Lourdes attended Quiapo Parochial School for grade school through highschool. For college, she attended the Marian School of Nursing where she met many of her lifelong friends. 

She migrated to Los Angeles, CA in 1974. A few months later, she met her future husband, Raymond Avelino, Sr. through her brother, Emil and other mutual friends. They were engaged in 1975 and were married on August 6, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They later celebrated their church wedding on December 10, 1977 at St. Cornelius Church in Long Beach, CA. Lori and Raymond welcomed their first child, Darlene in July 1978. They purchased their first home in Long Beach, CA and soon after, welcomed their son, Raymond Jr. in April 1981. In 1986, they moved to Rancho Palos Verdes where they would eventually settle down and raise their children together. Lourdes worked as a nurse for hospitals such as Daniel Freeman, Kaiser Permanente and most recently Harbor UCLA, in Torrance, CA, where she was a Kidney Transplant Coordinator for 39 years until she retired in 2016. Later in her career, she also became a Marketing Director for World System Builders, which she continued being active in after her retirement from nursing.

Lourdes was strong, beautiful, loving, generous, and a faithful servant of God. She embodied elegance and beauty. She was very popular and loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. Her hobbies included shopping, fashion, gardening, ballroom dancing, traveling, and getting together with her many friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Lourdes is survived by her daughter, Darlene Avelino David and her husband Jerrold of Valencia, CA; son, Raymond Avelino Jr. and his wife Janet of Chatsworth, CA. She was the proud and loving grandmother to her three grandsons, Christian Jalen Avelino David, Nathan Ray Avelino and Caleb Emmanuel Avelino David.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sr. and her father, David Sr.

Visitation will be held on: Thursday, August 28, 4:30pm-8:30pm and Friday, August 29, 4:30pm-8:30pm at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.

Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at Saint John Fisher Catholic Church, 5448 Crest Rd,Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.

Burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
