Mountain View

Linda Ann Haxton, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, educator, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 in Mountain View, CA, surrounded by family and friends. Born on January 21, 1945, Linda's vibrant spirit first blossomed on a citrus farm in Saticoy, California.

Linda graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in 1962. She continued her education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, earning a B.A. in History in 1967. A pivotal experience during her college years was studying abroad at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, which ignited her lifelong passion for learning and travel.

After college, Linda moved to the South Bay near Los Angeles where she built a rich and fulfilling life. She served as a History and English teacher for 33 years within the Chaffey Union High School District, both at Upland High School and Ontario High School.

The profound joy of her life was raising her daughter, Karin, in Manhattan Beach. Later in life, she found community at New Horizons in Torrance, where she was an active member of the Torrance Elks, Redondo Beach Elks, and Torrance Women of the Moose. In 2020, Linda made the decision to move to Northern California, where she could spend more time with her family and especially her two granddaughters, Ashley and Annika.

Linda’s zest for life was infectious. She loved to make new friends and reveled in new experiences, whether traveling to distant lands, immersing herself in live music, or dancing with abandon. She treasured time spent laughing, playing games, and visiting with her circle of family and friends. Her generosity and caring nature touched countless lives, making everyone who had the privilege to know her feel valued and loved.

Linda is reunited in eternal life with her beloved parents, Ethel Nisbet and Donald Nisbet Sr., and her dear brother, Donald Nisbet Jr.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Karin Dillon; her devoted son-in-law, Bob Dillon; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her granddaughters, Ashley and Annika Dillon, who were the light of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
