Larry Hideo Iida, 76, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Draper, Utah. He was born on August 27, 1949, in Los Angeles, California, and lived a life defined by intellect, generosity, selflessness, love, thoughtfulness, and steadfast faith.

Larry completed both his undergraduate degree and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His commitment to excellence led to a successful career as a dentist, culminating in the establishment and ownership of his private practice in Irvine, CA. Larry took great pride in his work and served his patients with both exceptional skill and genuine compassion.

Larry was known for his sharp mind, quick wit, generous spirit, and an even bigger heart. He was the kind of person who could fix just about anything, explain even the most complicated things with ease, and still make you laugh along the way. His sharp mind was matched by a quick, effortless sense of humor, and being around him brought both comfort and genuine joy. Even his firm handshake spoke to the strength of his character and the steadiness of his presence.

Beyond his profession, Larry found joy in spending time with his family, reading, discussions on politics, and time spent on the golf course. He had a natural sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to bring levity to those around him. As the years went on, Larry’s intellect only grew, driven by a genuine love of learning. He was the person we instinctively turned to for answers, trusting in his knowledge and his care. And when he didn’t have the answer right away, he took it upon himself to find it, always making sure to come back and share what he learned.

His curiosity led him on a journey to study Christianity and become a firm believer in Jesus Christ as his Savior. Whether you knew the Bible or not, he would ask questions to further his understanding of the claims of Christianity. We take comfort in knowing he now rests in the eternal embrace of the Lord in whom he trusted.

Larry lived with passion and purpose, and he loved with everything he had. His loss leaves an aching void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will forever be carried in the stories we tell, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.

Larry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Valerie Iida; his daughter and oldest child, Lindsey Iida; his son and middle child, Brandon Iida; and his youngest son, Justin (Keyera) Iida. He was a proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Taya Iida and Isla Iida, who brought him immense joy. He is survived by his sister, Janice (Walfred) Lester. He was preceded in death by his sister Linda Hirai and brother Dr. Robert Iida. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
