Kenneth Lopez Huerta, August 9, 1951 - April 28, 2026. Ken was the second son born to Ysidro & Consuelo Huerta of Gardena CA. He remained in the Gardena and Torrance area throughout his 74 years of life. After he graduated from Gardena High School, he worked with his father in the family furniture upholstery business while taking classes at Harbor Jr College. He then joined the Marine Corps, spending 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserves. He knew he wanted to serve his community; he entered the Police Academy and started his career with the Los Angeles Airport Police division. Soon after, he chose to join the Los Angeles Port Police in San Pedro, CA, where he was a patrol officer, dive team member and later built his team, Cargo C.A.T.S. He retired after 32 years as Sergeant of Detectives in 2013. Ken was all about his family; planning and taking family trips was his favorite, he always said having his kids around was important to him. Ken is survived by his wife of 29 years, Julie; his children Stefanie (Robert), Kenny Jr, Gayle (Danny), and Kylie (Conrad); and his grandchildren, Kennedie, and Devyn. He’s also survived by his brothers, Sid (Frances) and Ronnie, and sister Connie, along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18th from 11:30-12:30pm at the chapel of Green Hills, Rancho Palos Verdes. Ken’s love for family, service, and his community will continue to live on within his children and grandchildren.
