Kenneth “Butch” Sam Green, Jr., 60, of Lomita, California, passed unexpectedly at his residence on January 4, 2026.
Butch was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Artemiza “Micha” Uranga and Kenneth Green, Sr., while his parents were stationed on the island for military duty. After returning to California, the family settled in Sun Valley, where Butch attended Polytechnic High School.
Prior to marrying his wife, Deborah Bayek, in 2009, Butch shared two sons, Steven and Brandon, with Michelle Cornett.
Butch was a gentle, calm man who will be remembered for his devotion and loyalty to his family and friends, who meant the world to him. If you called Butch needing help, he would be there without hesitation. When he wasn’t at work, you could find him at home with his family, visiting his mom at the river, or taking a drive along the coast.
His ideal day was spent with family and friends—wave running, boating, off-roading, attending boat races, or visiting a car show. Butch loved finding a good deal and would often shop at second-hand stores with his wife, his mom, and even his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching classic television shows such as Leave It to Beaver and The Andy Griffith Show, and he was an avid Hot Wheels collector.
Early in his career, Butch worked as a welder and later as a union carpenter with Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company. However, he was most passionate about his longest and most meaningful career with the International Longshoremen’s and Warehousemen’s Union.
Butch was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Green, Sr.
He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife of 16 years, Debbie (Bayek); his sons, Steven and Brandon; his mother, Micha; his sister, Mollieann “Pita”; his brother, Carlos; and his stepdaughters, Ashley and Allison. He will forever be cherished and remembered by his grandchildren, Malia, Anali, Joey, and Bailey.
His memory also lives on through his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends whom he considered family.
Though Butch’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forward his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Butch’s light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 4:30–5:30 p.m., followed by a eulogy and memorial service from 5:30–8:30 p.m., on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in the Chapel at Green Hills Memorial, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
For those who have asked about sending flowers, the family is registered with Floral 101 in Lomita, California. Your kindness and support mean so much to our family.
