Kayla Michelle
Diaz
February 4, 2008 – May 14, 2026
With a heart full of love and unimaginable sorrow, I share the life of my beautiful daughter, Kayla Michelle Diaz, who passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 18.
Kayla was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend whose kindness and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was the loving big sister to her brother, Joziah (15), her sister, Khloe (12), and her little brother, Koa (6), who adored her deeply. The bond they shared was filled with love, laughter, guidance, and countless precious memories that will forever remain in their hearts.
Kayla was born on February 4, 2008, and raised in San Pedro, California. From the day she was born, she brought joy, love, and light into my life. She had the most beautiful smile, a kind heart, and a gentle soul that touched everyone she met. To know Kayla was to love her.
My daughter was selfless, humble, intelligent, ambitious, and strong-willed. She always thought of others before herself and never wanted anyone to worry about her. Even during the hardest moments of her life, she continued to show kindness, gratitude, and love. She was the type of person who always said “thank you” and always wanted everyone around her to be okay.
Kayla attended San Pedro High School and was a proud member of the Class of 2026. She was a straight-A student who worked incredibly hard and never gave up on her dreams. Despite battling cancer for many years, she continued to push forward with determination and courage. I was so proud of the young woman she became and all that she accomplished.
One of Kayla’s greatest loves was music. She proudly played the trumpet for seven years and enjoyed being part of her school’s band program. She also loved soccer, softball, and cheerleading, creating memories and friendships that she cherished throughout her life.
Kayla was a devoted Dodgers fan. She loved watching games, collecting Dodgers memorabilia, and spending time with family cheering on her favorite team. She also had a deep love for Laguna Beach. The ocean brought her peace and happiness. Some of my favorite memories are of her enjoying the beach, listening to music, and watching the sunset.
She loved collecting Hot Wheels and was fascinated by exotic cars. She enjoyed attending car shows and talking about her favorite vehicles. She also loved Disneyland, video games, Netflix, Starbucks, Icees from 7-Eleven, and spending time with the people she loved.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Kayla showed a level of strength that inspired everyone around her. She faced challenges with courage, grace, and faith. While cancer became part of her story, it never defined who she was. Kayla was so much more than her illness. She was a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, student, musician, athlete, and an extraordinary young woman whose life made a difference.
Being Kayla’s mother was the greatest blessing and honor of my life. The love between us did not end when she passed away. I carry her with me every day, in every breath, every memory, every sunrise, every Dodgers game, every beach sunset, and every butterfly that crosses my path.
My beautiful daughter leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, courage, and strength. She will forever be missed, forever be loved, and forever be remembered.
Our love is forever, my Kayla. No matter where life or eternity takes us, it will always be me and you, connected by a bond that can never be broken. I will love you always me and you forever.
Until we meet again, my princess, my baby girl.
Love always,
Mom
