Julia was born in El Paso, Texas. Her father was in the US Army Band, stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He was transferred to California when she was 4. She went to Barton Hill School, Dana Jr. High, and graduated from San Pedro High in the Summer of 1946. She was a retired state employee of the Dept. of Fish and Game, and was a active member of the Toberman Senior Citizen's Club. Preceded in death by her parents, Amado and Felicitas Sanchez, her husband, Francisco (Raul), sister, Alicia Markulis, brothers Robert and Armando. She is survived by her sister, Lucia (Robert) Osornio, In-laws, Michael Markulis, Annette Sanchez, and Guadalupe Garcia Valadez (Dominguez), Aunt, Josefina Soto; Daughter, Irene (Jose) Gutierrez, granddaughter, Gabriella; Son, Raul (Vicky) Dominguez, their sons, Thomas and James and their children. She had many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She described her life as a fulfilling and beautiful one, and throughout she touched many in both small and impactful ways. Services to be held at Green Hills Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 25th at 3:00 pm.
