Joe was born to Felipe and Josephine Trujillo (Rodriguez) in San Pedro, California on October 17, 1958. The family, which included his sisters, Erma and Lisa, lived in Wilmington and Torrance before moving to Carson, their final home, in 1964. Joe grew up there and graduated from Carson High School in 1977. During his high school years and through the early 1980’s, he was an active member of the Day of Rejoicing Choir, in Buena Park CA, where he served on the musical team as their drummer, having taught himself and taking a few personal lessons. His God-given musical talent enabled him to become a much-valued member of the choir and added to their dynamic, and popular sound. He traveled with the choir to Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, as well as many local, and out of state, choir appearances in churches, on Christian TV station, TBN, and on their self-titled album. Later, his interest in law enforcement, led him to start a career in security, both for the county of Los Angeles, and also private firms for over 40 years. In his spare time, his passion for art, and model-making blossomed into being an exhibitor for over 40 years at several horror film conventions/shows where he proudly displayed his unique 3-dimensional life-like diorama models that he built, hand carved, and hand painted, with natural looking scenery and became known as JoJo, the Diorama Guy, founder of Diorama Fantasies. This passion never left him and he was able to show his dioramas for what would be his last appearance in Pasadena on May 30th and 31st, 2026. He always credited God for his talents. Joe was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those whom he loved, especially his parents, whom he cared for in their twilight years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Felipe and Josephine Trujillo, and nephew, Adrien Palacio, and is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Trujillo; his son, Jason J. Trujillo; his sisters, Erma Lefevre and Lisa Palacio; his nephews, Jordan Roberson and Tyler Roberson; his nieces, Shelby Laura and Alex Vazin; and his great-nephew, Lucas Laura, as well as many extended family members and relatives.
