Jeffrey Bruce Riker passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, and Bladder Cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Jeff was born on February 12th, 1941 in Flushing ( Queens), New York. He grew up in a loving home, with his father, Harold, mother, Marjorie, and older brother, Norman.

Jeffrey excelled in school, and attended Columbia University, as a premed major. He then went on to complete his medical degree at Harvard University.

He married the love of his life, Barbara on June 28th, 1964. Barbara and Jeff were long time family friends, and actually met in Kindergarten. Jeff served time with the public health service division of the army, during the Vietnam War. In June of 1967, their son Jonathan was born, followed by their daughter, Stephanie in December of 1968. In 1972, the family moved to southern California, where Jeff started in private practice, with an affiliation at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, as a pulmonologist. At Long Beach Memorial, he was highly involved in hospital administration roles, as well as being a founder of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis program. He held the roles of medical director of respiratory care services, and medical critical care. He was also a professor of medicine at UC Irvine.

He enjoyed annual trips to the Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii, as well as the island of St Barts in the Caribbean.

Jeff and Barbara traveled the world, and visited over 50 countries. During medical school and his medical internship, he spent time volunteering in both Africa and South America, where medical care was greatly needed. He enjoyed annual trips to the Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii, as well as the island of St Barts in the Caribbean. In addition to travel, he enjoyed skiing, swimming, tennis, walks on the beach, reading the newspaper cover to cover, and to decompress, he loved his "tanning time" in his backyard by the pool. He was also a great lover of all things chocolate, and enjoyed his chocolate egg creams every night. Jeff had many friends in the Palos Verdes community, at his synagogue, Temple Beth El in San Pedro, where he served as President for 2 years, as well as his extensive medical community in Long Beach.

Jeff was thrilled to see both of his children get married to Jon's wife, Inno, and Stephanie's husband, Robert.

One of Jeff's greatest joys was becoming a grandfather to Lauren ( 2006), and Justin ( 2009). He cherished the holidays, birthdays, travel, and babysitting he got to do with his grandkids.

Rest in peace to our dear Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and dear friend. Your legacy will live on for decades to come.
