Green Hills Mortuary & Memorial Chapel
2:00 - 3:00 pm (Pacific time)
Jason Craig Smith was born December 3, 1979 in Harbor City, California. Jason left this world on March 19, 2026 after a hard-fought, courageous battle with cancer. The last six months of his life were, at times, difficult and painful but he would not have wanted his life to be defined by cancer. He often said that he was blessed with tremendous love and support from family and friends.
Jason is survived by his mother Barbara, stepfather Raul, and his brother Nick. He leaves behind a wife Nicole and stepsons Jakob and Conner. His large extended family will be acknowledged at the services.
Jason attended St Margaret Mary's Catholic school, Dana Junior HIgh School, and San Pedro HIgh School. As a young boy, he played baseball from T-ball to the age of 16, belonged to the first pilot surfing program in high school, and continued to surf into adulthood. Skateboarding was a favorite pastime, as well as his love for muscle cars, music and parties. Jason's passion for cooking and barbequing was often the highlight of a family gathering. Jason's loyal Doberman Carmella could be seen pulling him alongside his skateboard in the neighborhood. Family and friends spent many happy outings in his boat on Lake Mead and the Colorado River.
Jason loved his work as a Longshoreman, an arduous and sometimes dangerous job. He was extremely proud of being a Longshoreman and it was a major part of his personal identity. The men and women he worked with were more than coworkers, they were his brothers and sisters with whom he shared a strong bond.
As a husband, Jason was a steadfast provider for his family. He supported his stepsons with love and guidance. He was generous and present in their lives.
Jason's life was too short but it was full. He will be remembered for his big heart and personality. He was compassionate, funny, bright and articulate. He was brave and strong, kind and gentle. The happiness and love he brought to our lives will forever be remembered.
