James “Kimo” Benny Carlos April 28, 1958 - September 2, 2026 In loving memory of James Benny Carlos.

James Benny Carlos or known as “Kimo” to his family and friends was born on April 28, 1958 in Long Beach CA. He passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026 at the age of 68, surrounded by the endless love of his family.

Born James Benny Carlos in Long Beach CA to James Carlos Sr and Alice Ponce. , he was the second of three children and grew up in Wilmington CA. He graduated from Phineas Banning High School in 1976 and joined the army shortly thereafter. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1986, he then joined the workforce and began working at Raytheon until he retired after 35 years of service. During that time, he enjoyed golfing, playing ice hockey, surfing and cycling in his free time. He also enjoyed being a part of the hula community not only dancing hula but playing Hawaiian music with his bands Kulolo and Ka’amea for Kekaiulu Hula Studio.

Kimo was a supportive father, a jokester, an innovator and enjoyed life to the fullest, gracing everyone with his unforgettable smile. He had a gift for working with his hands, solving problems, and helping anyone who needed him. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son and friend to those who had the chance to know him.

Kimo is survived by his loving wife Linda Carlos of 31 years and their two children Liko and Loleina. He is also survived by his four eldest sons: Matthew (with his wife Jessica and their two children), Joshua (with his wife Loretta), Timothy (with his wife Rowie) and Noochi.

“We love you and miss you so much dad, you are forever in our hearts” - Carlos ‘ohana
