Howard O Coale iii, passed away on December 5, 2025 after complications of a stroke. His wife Pam was by his side. Howard was born on August 3, 1950 in Long Beach, California to Howard Jr and Janice Coale. He was the first of four sons, and was known by his nickname Hobby. He spent his youth on the Palos Hill in an area known as 'the Ranch '....much fun and activities were enjoyed by the Four boys. Hobby attended Chadwick with his younger brother Chris and enjoyed sports together. Hobby returned to Chadwick in 1974 to work in the Athletic Department and became the Athletic Director in 1976. Hobby and his wife Pam moved onto campus in 1976, and enjoyed 14 years of Chadwick life. The CIF Football Champions of 1986 was one of the many highlights of Chadwick career.Hobby loved local surfing and with his wife, enjoyed regular surf trips along the coast in the VW camper...which is still going. He loved watching all sports, especially college football, he always rooted for the underdog. Hobby is survived by his wife Pam , married sine July 1974, no children .Brother Chris, his wife Stephanie, daughter Payten, (Chadwick grad 2016). Youngest brother Chad, and Sister in-laws Patti Folsom -Medina, her husband Mike, and Peggy Folsom. Scott Coale , third brother passed in 2018. Hobby's memorial and ashes will be scattered at his surfing spots at a later time to be announced .
