Helen Teresa Gilbert

Helen Gilbert, aged 96, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness, with her beloved family at her side. She has joined her dear husband, Captain Charles B. Gilbert, who predeceased her on 10/31/1979.
Helen's, great sense of humor and unique style were with her until the end. She was a pioneer - as one of the first Navy WAVES in World War II, she was strong willed, resilient and able to handle any situation with dignity and grace.
Helen will be remembered with great love and affection by her children: Alannah Godwin, Gloria Young, Patricia Heil and Charles Gilbert, as well as by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Contributions in Helen's name may be made to the House of Hope in San Pedro ( www.houseofhopesp.com ), an organization that assists women in recovery and was very dear to Helen's heart.
Memorial Service will be at the Torrance Marriott Hotel on April 23 and will start promptly at 1:00pm. The service will be Hawaiian themed.
