Gilbert "Chico" Aguilar, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 84 in Los Angeles County, California. Born on April 9, 1941, in Kern County, Bakersfield, California, Gilbert lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for others.

He proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years and was a Vietnam War veteran, completing four tours of duty. His military career not only shaped his character but also instilled in him the values of sacrifice and commitment, which he carried with him throughout his life. In addition to his military endeavors, Gilbert was active in high school gymnastics and participated in Navy Culinary Arts and boxing, where he enjoyed supplying his crew with great meals, showcasing his culinary talents.

Beyond his service to the country, Gilbert was known for his loving and caring nature. He embraced the philosophy of treating others like family and was always willing to sacrifice his own time for the benefit of those around him. His vibrancy extended into his personal interests, where he loved camping, hiking, backpacking, and riding his Harley, enjoying the beauty of nature and the thrill of adventure.

Gilbert had a strong dedication to Scouting and remained actively involved for over a decade. His love for the great outdoors and commitment to family exemplified his character and the legacy he leaves behind.

Gilbert is survived by his son, Julio; daughter-in-law, Alejandra; and grandsons, Dante and Kai. His memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on July 8, 2025, at Green Hills Mortuary & Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, beginning at 11:30 AM, followed by a graveside service at Green Hills Memorial Park at 12:45 PM. Gilbert Aguilar's spirit and devotion to family and country will forever be remembered by those whose lives he positively influenced.
