Pacific Palisades, California

George Jay Bloom III, 68, of Pacific Palisades, California passed away on November 11th, 2025 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on December 22nd, 1956 in Chicago to George Sr. and Suzanne Bloom.

George was a charismatic, compassionate, creative, curious, adventurous, generous, and joyful man who loved to surf, camp, kite-board, mountain bike, stargaze, ski, swim, read, write, learn, and explore all the flavors of life with his beloved family and friends.

George had a brilliant career as a creative, entrepreneur, director, producer, and writer, directing music videos for entertainment icons like Ringo Starr, Duran Duran, George Thorogood, and the long-standing Monday Night Football introduction with Hank Williams Jr., feature length films like Brother in Arms, TV mini-series like Faith: Pope John Paul II, and the Emmy nominated interactive Virtual-Reality experience for Netflix’s hit show, Stranger Things. George also wrote and sold screenplays and had just finished his inaugural novel, which was being considered for publishing by world-renowned firms like Penguin House at the time of his death. Aside from his distinct professional career, George was contracted by NASA to capture detailed photographs of the cosmos and also spent time as a professional Motorcross racer.

George was deeply devoted to his family and spent every moment of his life supporting, empowering, and encouraging their dreams. His favorite moments were spent cheering on his children at their sporting events, exploring the world with his wife, and finding joy in life’s simplest pleasures, like discovering new gelato shops, admiring beach-side sunsets, spending afternoons on the water on his boat in Lake Arrowhead, and attending matinee stage plays so he could be home in time for dinner with his family.

George’s life is the perfect example of how to prioritize family while also building an incredibly accomplished career.

George is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his children, Oliver and Carly; his dog, Hazel; his mother, Suzanne; his sisters, Alison, Laura, and Eva; and countless friends.

As George was passionate about helping others experience life to the fullest extent, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation in his honor, to help children facing severe illness enjoy meaningful and joyful experiences.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
