Gayle Taiji passed away peacefully on January 18th surrounded with her loving family by her side.
She was born Gayle Yoshiko Uyeno to the late Yuki Uyeno and the late Yoshio Giyu Uyeno on October 11, 1945 in Los Angeles, California. In 1970 Gayle married the late Bruce Taiji and they had a son, Darryl Masami Taiji, and a grandson, Ryleigh Masami Sims.
Gayle is survived by her loving son, Darryl Masami Taiji, her grandson, Ryleigh Masami Sims, her sisters, her brother, as well as her nieces, nephew, grandniece, grandnephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Gayle attended California State University, Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. She attended California State University, Dominguez Hills and received a Teaching Credential. For over 30 years, she was a teacher for Long Beach Unified and Los Angeles Unified School Districts. She had a zest for life, enjoyed traveling, loved her cats (Morris, Tig, Puffy, and Misty), watching movies, attending concerts and plays, listening to music, playing the ukulele, taking Zumba class, reading, watching the news, and collecting chachkies.
The graveside service will take place on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
