Gary Lee Brown Sr.

Gary Lee Brown passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2025, at the age of 76. Gary was born on March 31, 1949, in Long Beach, and resided in Carson throughout his childhood. He attended Carson High School, and was a proud member of the 1966 Carson Colts football team that went undefeated (11-0) winning the LA City Championship. Football and surfing were his passions, and he went on to play football at LA Harbor College. He was drafted and served honorably in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam war.

Gary met Sylvia Moreno Rocha at a local dance. He was not planning on going out that night, but his buddy David Hayes talked him into it. Fate lined up, and they married several years later on June 26, 1972. They enjoyed their youth and started a family. Gary worked primarily as a truck driver throughout his career. He prioritized spending time with his children, often selecting work schedules to be present and participate in their sports and hobbies. His son Gary Jr remembers good years with his father who stayed active playing racquetball, racing BMX, and coaching Little League baseball.

In 1997, Gary lost the love of his life, Sylvia. After retiring from work, Gary became a grandfather, and spent time with his three grandsons, Parker, Griffin, and Fletcher Brown. Gary will be missed dearly, and his sense of humor and jokes will remain with us.

Services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Ranchos Palos Verdes at 11:30,am on November 22, 2025.
